Hotel San Gallo Palace

The San Gallo Palace is a new 4 star hotel in the centre of Florence. Situated in Piazza della Libertà, one of the most significant areas of the city of Florence during medieval times. The view from the hotel of the San Gallo gate is where the hotel takes it’s name, this gate being noted through the centuries as the entrance way into the city for the noblemen of Florence.
The hotel opened on the 1st October 2003, combining the requirements of today’s clients with an elegant and relaxing atmosphere and with efficient services to respond to the needs of guests travelling for business or pleasure.
The San Gallo Palace offers its clients 56 extremely bright rooms, equipped with all traditional comforts expected from a first class hotel.
The private parking, the tranquillity of an internal garden with American and snack bar service and all relevant services for the organisation of meetings for up to 70 people complete the facilities offered by the hotel.

The meeting centre of the San Gallo Palace has 5 meeting rooms all with natural light and suitable to satisfy the needs of all types of meeting from small meetings to business conventions (maximum capacity 70 person).

Restaurant

The American snack bar is open 24 hours offering an extensive range of snacks and culinary delights. The restaurant “Buvette” assure service and cuisine at an optimum level, in an elegant and exclusive location ideal for the organisation of coffee breaks, lunches and dinners.

Situated in a perfect location, easily accessible by car, the San Gallo Palace can be found 10 minutes from the main sights monuments of Florence (San Marco church, The Academy of Fine Arts with the statue of David by Michelangelo, the cathedral and SS Annunziata) and close to the Exposition and congress centre of Florence.
By plane: Amerigo Vespucci airport is 5km from the centre of Florence, a taxi ride to the San Gallo Palace takes approximately 15 minutes. A valid option is to take the shuttle bus service that goes from the airport to the Santa Maria Novella Station, where a taxi can then be taken to the hotel. Journey time from the station to the hotel is approximately 10 minutes.
By Train: Arriving at the central station of Santa Maria Novella we recommend that a taxi is taken to reach the hotel, or bus number 1 direction Piazza della Libertà.
By Car: Whether travelling from north or south, we recommend that you take the motorway exit on the A1 at “Firenze Nord”: follow the signs for the centre and “viali circonvallazione”, continue towards the Fortezza da Basso Exposition centre and Piazza della Libertà, once in Piazza della Libertà take the left side traffic lights and keep left, at the following set of traffic lights turn left again and the San Gallo Palace is situated on the right at approximately 100 metres.

The major complaint we had was the room. It was like an iceberg. the breakfast varied from poor to excellent, it depended on what time you got down to it as it appear to not be restocked. The staff were friendly but I think thehotel is more suited to business people than tourists.

My wife and I stayed at San Gallo Palace during our honeymoon in Europe and we were incredibly happy with our stay. The value was tremendous and our room was very spacious. We were happy with the service we received and we hope to return to this hotel several times in the future.
